Effective Ways To Protect Your Skin And Hairs From Harmful Holi Colors

Pre-Holi Haircare

  • Massage your hair with coconut oil before Holi Celebrations. Make sure that you apply sufficient amount of oil to cover all your hair and scalp properly. Hair oil will act as a barrier to colors and ease out the process of taking off colors in first wash only

  • Girls, you need to tie your hairs in braided ponytail or a high bun so that less amount of Holi colors can spread over your scalp

  • Avoid doing shampoo to your hairs prior to the Holi celebration as shampoo will wash off all the natural oil produced by your scalp. The natural oil of our scalp will reduce the chances of Holi colors to penetrate inside the scalp pores

Pre-Holi Skincare

  • Try to avoid wearing tight and exposing clothes as covering your body as much as possible will help in preventing our skin from direct contact of holi colors

  • Additionally, wearing loose and comfortable clothes helps in avoiding all the chances of skin rashes or irritation which might get caused by synthetic chemical based colors

  • Oil your body and face with coconut, olive or almond oil so that less color gets absorbed into your skin. Also, it can easily come off later

  • If you are not comfortable with oiling your face then you can use toner instead of oil. Toner will help in minimizing our skin pores and restrict the colors to enter into our skin. Plus, don't forget to apply your favorite sunscreen after applying toner

  • Apply Vaseline over your lips, near your eyes and over your nail cuticles in order to protect them from colors

  • Girls, you can apply nail paints over their nails for protecting them from getting stained. Post Holi celebration, you can remove this nail paint very easily using any nail paint remover

Post-Holi Haircare

  • Try to wash your hair when the Holi colors are still wet so that, it can come off easily

  • As a first step, wash your hairs with normal water without using any shampoo. It will help in removing excess color from your scalp and hair. Once after washing it with normal water, use your favorite shampoo and conditioner to remove the left out color from your scalp

  • Hairs will require moisturization after doing shampoo as well. The chemicals present in Holi colors might cause our hairs to make them dry and frizzy. Use any good quality hair serum or hair oil for keeping moisturization
